Metro Drug Coalition's Dopesick: Beyond the Book and Series

Join us on February 17, 2022, at 7:00pm for a look into how Hollywood’s dramatization is Knoxville’s reality. Our Panel will be hosted at the historic Bijou Theater in downtown Knoxville. Our diverse set of panelists will give unique insights into how the pandemic started in our own backyard.

Panelists include:
Beth Macy, Author of National Bestseller Dopesick
Dr. Stephen Loyd, East Tennessee Physician portrayed in Dopesick.
Director David Rausch, TBI (Former Knoxville Chief of Police)
John Brownlee, former US Attorney who prosecuted the Purdue Pharma case
Robert DeLuca, A corporate licensed pharmacist with expertise in Medication Assisted Therapies used to treat Opioid Use Disorder.

This panel will be moderated by Lori Tucker of WATE.

All proceeds from this event will benefit The Gateway, Knoxville’s first Community Recovery Center opening in downtown Knoxville in Spring 2022. The Gateway will connect individuals and families to social and community resources, serve those who wish to uncover their unique path to long-term sustainable recovery, and give people the opportunity to give back to others as they strengthen their own recovery.

For over 40 years, the Dogwood Arts House & Garden Show has showcased the latest trends in home improvement, landscape design, décor, and more. The 2022 Dogwood Arts House & Garden Show will return to the Knoxville Convention Center Friday, February 11th through Sunday, February 13th. 

  • Live Music + Happy Hour: Friday & Saturday from 4-5:30PM

  • Meet & Greet with John Fulkerson (UT Men's Basketball) on Sunday from 2-3:30PM

COVID-19 has sent most of us home to work; therefore, we need a compliant, legal ‘Work from Home’ policy to guide us during this new way of work in 2021. Not only must we be compliant, but we must also learn to rally our remote troops and keep the team dynamics strong during tough times.

This event is presented by the Alliance for Better Nonprofits.

This workshop counts as 1 credits towards the ABN Human Resources Certificate. To receive this certificate, a participant must earn 18 credits (six qualifying courses) within a two-year period. BIO:

With 30+ years of industry experience, LeeAnn Bailes Foster excels at relationship management, conflict resolution and employee engagement.  Prior to founding Team Foster Strategy, LLC, LeeAnn was Executive Vice President, Chief People Officer for WS Packaging Inc, where she was responsible for Human Resources, Training & ESH compliance for this national corporation with 21 locations and over 2,100 employees. She also spent over 22 years serving as Vice President of Human Resources for Edfinancial Services where she oversaw employee benefits, employee relations, payroll, recruitment and retention for this $2 billion national student loan service provider. A former teacher and coach, LeeAnn received her bachelor’s degree in education and her master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. LeeAnn is also a Certified Emotional Intelligence Practitioner.
