Each committee is made up of individuals with a diverse array of professional backgrounds, and serving on a committee opens the door to building relationships with people who likely aren’t in your current network. By expanding your network in this way, you’ll discover that you have access to connections and professional opportunities you otherwise wouldn’t. Additionally, you’ll find your fellow committee members become your friends and you’ll look forward to seeing them at upcoming YPK events.
Serving on a committee also gives you the opportunity to develop new skills and utilize emerging talents. Committees allow you to develop a deeper understanding of what it takes to run a successful organization by being part of an operating nonprofit organization’s leadership. Committee Descriptions
Community Outreach
The Community Outreach Committee plans and coordinates YPK philanthropic activities, including the Annual Giving Brunch, donation drives, and volunteer initiatives. They also educate members on the benefits of giving back to the community, brainstorm ways to partner with local charities and plan outreach events.
Strategic partnerships
The Strategic Partnerships Committee is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and managing relationships with businesses and organizations that align with YPK's mission and objectives. This committee is pivotal in securing financial support and in-kind contributions and oversees business and nonprofit opportunities, memberships, and relationships.
Membership
This Membership Committee plans quarterly General Membership Meetings (GMMs) and builds opportunities for members to connect and engage. They assist with signature events and focus on the member experience.
Marketing
The Marketing Committee creates visually appealing assets to keep members, the media and other stakeholders updated on the latest YPK events, member perks and features, programs and initiatives. Opportunities for committee members include developing engaging graphic design, digital marketing, video and photography.
The Communications Committee works to keep the Knoxville community updated on the latest YPK events, membership perks, member features, and insights into all things local through e-newsletters, social media, and ypknox.com. This committee also responds to inquiries from the media, members and public.

The Social Committee meets quarterly to brainstorm ideas for the locations of our upcoming happy hours and networking events. Overall, we plan fun venues and strive to engage members in networking.
Professional Development
This committee seeks to empower our members to develop the skills, connections and confidence to become leaders in their respective organizations and the Knoxville community. We strive to create exclusive events with exciting speakers and opportunities to sharpen leadership skills.
Recruitment
This committee helps current and new members get the most out of YPK by expanding the number of young professionals and curating a diversified group of professional levels, industries, and backgrounds.
Leadership Certificate
This program seeks to empower our members to develop the skills, connections and confidence to become leaders in their respective organizations and the Knoxville community. We strive to create exclusive learning opportunities with exciting speakers and offer tools to sharpen leadership skills.
