Starting A New Year with YPK!
Starting A New Year with YPK!
As a new year rolls around, resolutions closely follow!
If you’re looking for ways to connect with peers, develop leadership skills and serve your community, then you’ll fit right in with the Young Professionals of Knoxville.
Whether you’ve just joined or you’ve been a member for years, here are a few simple steps to ensure you’re getting the very most from Knoxville’s Premiere Young Professional organization.
Membership dues are $200 for new members and renew annually for $100. If your membership has lapsed, renew now at the reduced renewal rate. There are many great benefits to becoming a member, including invites to member-only events, discounts on exclusive opportunities and an expanded network of young movers and shakers. We encourage you to chat with your employer and see if they would be willing to invest in your professional growth with YPK. See: How to talk to your employer about sponsoring your YPK membership.
2. Update your Membership Profile
Update your membership profile with your photo, employer/industry, interests, involvements and passions to get the most from the YPK Membership Directory. This guide walks you through what to include in your profile. Pro tip: you can search keywords in the directory for members with similar interests and committee participation.
3. Sign up for updates
There are so many ways to stay up to date on everything YPK does! Text YPK to 833-301-2021 to opt into mobile messaging updates, sign up for our newsletter, and join the members only Facebook group.
4. Join a Committee
Committees are the force that make all YPK events and initiatives possible! Each committee plays a key role in providing quality experiences and opportunities and relies on members to make it happen! Serving on a committee opens the door to building relationships with people who likely aren’t in your current network. By expanding your network in this way, you’ll discover that you have access to connections and professional opportunities you otherwise wouldn’t. Additionally, you’ll find your fellow committee members become your friends and you’ll look forward to seeing them at upcoming YPK events. Plus - accomplishments from committee service looks GREAT on a resume!
5. Attend General Membership Meetings
Although there are many casual networking events and opportunities, General Membership Meetings get down to the real things that impact you as a member. These quarterly member-only meetings inform the direction of YPK. Attend GMMs to vote on community partnerships, elect leadership positions, learn from business and community leaders and guide YPK events and initiatives.
